Howard Crouse, SuperintendentWelcome to the Indian Prairie School District 204 web pages. We have great students, incredibly talented teachers, caring parent partners, and an involved community. These are the ingredients that make up our very successful school district.

In 2006-07, we will enroll more than 29,000 students in our 31 schools, the visible result of tremendous population growth over the last 15 years. Our web pages are an inviting entrance into our schools. In them you will find glimpses of the challenging opportunities that lie within the grasp of every student. We are dedicated to helping each student maximize his or her learning with an enthusiastic group of teachers. The curriculum is rooted in best-practice research offering both challenges and support through core and exploratory courses.

We invite you to explore the snapshots of our district that make up the school web pages. Our Board goals and budget are readily available, and the Board itself is easily accessible through our site. The school web pages reflect several fundamental beliefs in our district. All of them have the same layout, but the building’s individuality shows up quite clearly upon further examination. You will see examples of innovation and creativity throughout.

We also recognize the great work done by our Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) and the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF). Every school has a very active, supportive PTA. Our parents belong to the PTA as a means to adding value to our children’s education. We thrive on their contributions.

The IPEF has supported the district’s programs since 1987. It sponsors numerous events including middle school science fairs, the district-wide Fine Arts Fair, scholarships, and mini-grants. We encourage you to participate in both groups.

Finally, we look to the future. No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation requires us to review what we do and make sure it is aligned with the State’s learning standards. It also focuses our attention on our at risk students. Every child can succeed, not just the majority who do well every day. We have many committees working on both issues, creating a better 204.

I am proud to be Superintendent. This is a great place to lead, to work, and to live. Welcome to this view of our world.

Sincerely,
Howard Crouse,
Superintendent
