Indian Prairie Web Accessibility Checklist

We created this resource to simplify web accessibility auditing for schools, districts, other government entities, contracted vendors, and anyone else who wants or needs to ensure a site that's usable by all visitors.

The Indian Prairie Web Accessibility Checklist covers the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 conformance levels A and AA. These criteria harmonize with the Office for Civil Rights' Section 504 and ADA benchmarks1. Level AA is also the proposed standard for Section 508 compliance.

The checklist covers HTML and embedded multimedia content. If your site incorporates or links to other types of content (e.g., Adobe PDF, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, etc.), you'll need to ensure that content conforms, as well. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has some great resources on making such files accessible.

1. If you are part of a school or district that has entered into a resolution agreement with the Office for Civil Rights, please check with OCR and your lawyer to ensure the Indian Prairie Web Accessibility Checklist is sufficient for testing your pages. The content on this page (and within the checklist) does not constitute legal advice and may not apply to any specific OCR case.
