Parents have the right to request an Independent Education Evaluation (IEE) at public expense if they disagree with the school team's evaluation results.  A parent is entitled, pursuant to federal law, to one independent educational evaluation at public expense each time the District conducts an evaluation with which the parent disagrees.

Requests for an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) must be in writing and submitted to the Superintendent or the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. Within seven school days of receipt of the request, the District will either:

  • Agree to complete the IEE, and provide the family with the District procedures to begin the process; or
  • File a request for an impartial due process hearing with the State Board of Education to show that the District’s evaluation was appropriate.
