Hybrid Learning Model

Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education during such an unusual school year.
Indian Prairie 204 is increasing the amount of in-person learning for our students. Beginning on March 9, students currently enrolled in the hybrid model attending in person on-campus will attend four half days per week. Students will come to school Tuesday through Friday from 9-11:30am. Remote students will continue receiving live instruction remotely from 12:30-3:30pm. Art, Music and PE classes will take place in the afternoon, which is why the PM block is 30 minutes longer. Both remote and in-person students will participate in specials classes in the afternoon. There are a few exceptions due to scheduling constraints.
Based on space availability, parents may have the option to switch from remote to in-person instruction. We will add students where space (physical space and class size limitations) is available using a lottery system because we may not be able to accommodate all students due to physical distancing space limitations in our classrooms. The process to fill available seats in the classroom will be the following:
First, if needed, we will draw names to fill any open seats with the current teacher.
Second, if no open seats are available in your child’s class, you will be assigned to another teacher at the same grade level in the same school.
Third, if no other seats are available in the same grade level at your school, you will be assigned to a teacher at another school. We believe this may only happen in a very small number of cases.
Families may remain remote if they do not want to change teachers or schools. If a family decides to participate in in-person instruction at another school, the family will be responsible for transportation. This will be for the remainder of this year only. We will make every effort to include as many students as possible in our four half day hybrid plan while adhering to physical distancing and class size limits.
Families wishing to switch from remote to in-person learning, should complete the Google form in this link.To be considered for the lottery, the form must be submitted on or before Friday, February 26 at 12 noon. A start date for switching to in-person will be communicated once we confirm placement of students requesting a change. You do not have to do anything if you want to continue with your current learning plan.
We will continue to enforce numerous CDC mitigation measures to keep our students and staff safe while they are at school. All students will be required to complete the self-certification in ParentVUE each day before entering school or boarding the bus; proper mask wearing and physical distancing of 6 ft. will be enforced at school; and students must stay home when they are ill or need to quarantine.
