The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) and District 204 proudly honor Allison Mansmith, a fourth-grade teacher at White Eagle Elementary, with the September A+ Award. You can watch the September A+ Award video to see the team's surprise visit recognizing Mrs. Mansmith for “Making a Difference in District 204”.

Mrs. Mansmith was nominated for the A+ Award by White Eagle parent León Reffreger Alonso. In his essay, he describes the profound and lasting impact that she had on his son both in first grade and in fourth grade.

Mr. Refregger states, ‘Thanks to Mrs. Mansmith’s patience, affection, and constant support, my son was able to gain confidence in himself and in his ability to learn. She made the classroom a safe and welcoming space where he felt understood, valued, and capable.’ He goes on to say that because of Mrs. Mansmith’s support, León gained better self-esteem and was motivated to adopt English with confidence. Today León is a thriving fifth grader, and Mr. Refregger credits that to Mrs. Mansmith’s care, patience, and positivity.

Thank you to A+ Award sponsor Western Governors University who once again is partnering with IPEF and District 204 to help recognize one staff member each month for making a difference for students. To celebrate these outstanding staff members, Western Governors University is generously donating $1,000 for each month’s winner to use in his or her school.
