LED Lighting and Energy Efficiency

Project Summary

Total Project Budget: $20.0 Million
Referendum Funds: $18.0 Million
Contracted to Date: $14.1 Million

The District’s Master Facility Plan identified the opportunity to upgrade all district lighting to LED lighting.  LED lighting has been shown to improve student focus and provide a higher quality of light more similar to natural daylight.  The initiative also includes installing dimmers, sensors, and controls to  ensure lighting operates efficiently and meets the needs of our teachers and students.

LED lighting produces significant energy savings and has lower maintenance than traditional fluorescent lighting.  The District has also received various incentives to assist in supporting the replacement. Additional energy efficiency projects include upgrading HVAC and boiler systems, and installing solar panels where feasible.
