Inclement Weather
Instruction Options
During inclement weather, the district may adjust the school schedule to ensure the safety of students and staff. New this year, in addition to e-Learning Day and Emergency Day, we’ve added Delayed Start and Early Dismissal options to allow greater flexibility in responding to changing weather conditions.
Delayed Opening
A delayed opening means schools will begin two hours later than normal. This option allows time for road conditions to improve and for our crews, along with local municipalities, to clear and treat roads, parking lots, and sidewalks. Schools will still dismiss at their regular times.

Early Childhood Classes at Prairie Children's Preschool, Graham, and Georgetown:
Morning Session: No school
Afternoon Session: Regular hours 12:10 - 2:40 PM
Speech Services: All itinerant speech services scheduled to start prior to 11:05 AM will be cancelled on delayed opening days.
Early Dismissal
An early dismissal means schools will open on time but end two hours earlier than normal. For example, if your child’s school typically dismisses at 3:00 p.m., an early dismissal would mean a 1:00 p.m. release. On these days, all afternoon activities and clubs will be canceled.

e-Learning Day
An e-Learning Day allows students to receive instruction remotely when they are unable to attend school in person. These days ensure learning continues even when weather or other conditions prevent on-site attendance. For complete details, please visit the e-Learning Days webpage.
Emergency Day
An Emergency Day is used when severe weather or other conditions prevent students and staff from safely participating in an e-Learning Day or attending school in person.
Notification
If the district holds an e-learning day, cancels school completely, or designates a late arrival or early dismissal, the information will be announced by 6 AM on www.ipsd.org. The district will also make a 204 Connect phone call by 6 AM to alert parents and guardians of the information. Parents and students can also check the Emergency Closing Center for school closings.
