Additional College-Sponsored National Merit Scholarship Winners

The board salutes two Neuqua Valley high school seniors who were recently awarded 2024 National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. The scholarship winners are Serene Bose and Aadi Pandit. Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

Neuqua Valley graduate joins nationwide cohort for young innovators

The board salutes Trisha Prabhu, a graduate of Neuqua Valley High School, who recently participated in the inaugural Young Futures Academy Innovators Cohort, a selective program for young innovators. Prabhu is the founder and president of ReThink Citizens, a Naperville-based nonprofit fighting online harassment and cyberbullying. She was one of ten innovators chosen from two hundred applicants nationwide. In addition to her placement in the cohort, she received a $100,000 grant, which she plans to use for creating viral anti-hate content and launching the ReThink Citizens Youth Coalition.

Metea Valley senior awarded Most Valuable Player belt for the 22nd annual BodyArmor Series

The board salutes Metea Valley senior, Lucy Burk, an all-state soccer player who received the Most Valuable Player belt at the 22nd annual BodyArmor Series. Lucy and her father were surprised on Father's Day during a video shoot celebrating fathers supporting daughters in athletics. Lucy expressed that this recognition was a perfect Father's Day gift, recognizing her father's crucial role in supporting her path to soccer stardom.

Waubonsie Valley senior competes in the 2024 Olympic Time Trials

The board salutes Waubonsie Valley senior, Tyler Bardak, who competed in the 2024 Olympic time trials in the 400 Individual Medley while swimming for the Fox Valley Swim Team. Bardak earned four state medals as a junior earlier this winter, contributing to Waubonsie Valley's third-place state trophy. He finished 40th overall but posted the sixth fastest time among swimmers aged 17 and under.

Metea Valley student chosen as National Youth Delegate

The board salutes Metea Valley junior, Ava Hensley, who was chosen as a National Youth Delegate to the 2024 Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University. Selected for her outstanding academic achievements and leadership in environmental science and conservation studies, Ava joins students from across the nation for an intensive week-long program. This summit provides opportunities to explore and advance their environmental studies.

Indian Prairie School District receives 2024 NSPRA Golden Achievement Award

The board salutes Indian Prairie School District 204 for earning a 2024 Golden Achievement Award from the National School Public Relations Association for the 2nd Annual Mental Health Symposium. The award recognizes outstanding strategic work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing, and engagement. 
Congratulations to Dawn Forkner and her team for their work in earning this prestigious recognition.


Microsoft Office Specialist US National Championship

The board salutes Waubonsie Valley senior, Brady Dingmann, for his success in the US Microsoft Office Specialist US National Championship. Brady finished fifth in Excel 365 Apps, which is the highest placement for any Illinois student this year.
