Dear Spring Brook Families, Last week, our teachers held our winter data review meetings to discuss student growth and make a plan for any students needing additional support. To support our district mission to inspire all students to achieve their greatest potential, our district provides high-quality core instruction for every student, as well as additional learning opportunities for those who may need more support.
A three-tiered system of intervention, referred to as Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), is designed to help teachers focus on providing high-quality learning opportunities that are matched to students’ needs and monitored on a frequent basis to ensure successful outcomes. Tier 1 consists of core instruction delivered to all students. Tier 2 consists of targeted group intervention for students not making adequate progress with core instruction alone. Tier 3 includes customized, more intense interventions, targeting students’ needs. All Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions are delivered in addition to core instruction.
Spring Brook relies on a variety of assessment data to identify when a student needs additional academic/behavioral support. Scores (National %tiles in Reading and Math) AND “For Families” student score reports for students who completed testing during the benchmark window will be released in ParentVUE on Friday, February 23rd. Based on the most recent assessments we administered, your child may receive a letter this week, indicating a need for additional intervention. Additionally, your child may receive a "graduation" letter if they are moving out of a Tier 2 or 3 intervention. If you don't receive any letter, your child is responding to the core instruction or is continuing their tiered intervention.
