All students in our school are invited to start Spring Break week off with an ocean adventure! National Geographic Adventurers of the Year, Dave and Amy Freeman will be offering a virtual assembly on Monday, March 31 about oceans live from their boat in Honduras. The Freemans have been delivering engaging virtual assemblies since 2013 and work with tens of thousands of elementary students through virtual assemblies each year. There is no cost to participate. The time and Zoom link are located at the link below. Please contact Dr. Tara Bell with any questions at tara_bell@ipsd.org or (630) 375-1141.

Club Elevate Food Drive
Club Elevate is excited to host its first-ever food drive at Welch Elementary! Over the past few weeks, students have been hard at work organizing and preparing for this event through flyer designs and poster creations while also working on public speaking through their own advocacy projects. For this food drive, we will be donating canned goods and toiletries to Loaves & Fishes. A comprehensive list of most needed items can be found here. Collection will begin Monday, April 7th and will end on Friday, April 11th!. We sincerely hope you consider donating to make a positive impact on your local community!
Spirit Wear
We have SPIRIT WEAR again! This time, we are offering the same designs from our previous fall release, but they will ship directly to your home! For anyone who did not get spirit wear in the fall, check out our shop:

3rd Annual Welch Color Run
Get your sneakers on and prepare for Welch Elementary PTA's Color Run (or walk – it's all about fun!) on May 10, 2025, from 10 am - 12 pm.
This event is open to Welch students, family, friends, and community members. Run, walk, or jog 2 laps around our course while getting dusted in vibrant colored powder! We have done our best to make the course accessible for everyone to participate! Enjoy music from our DJ, grab some refreshments, visit sponsor tables, and strike a pose at the photo booth!
At the end of the course, expect to be coated in safe food-grade color powder at our color finale under the starting/finish line !!! More information and registration at this link: https://app.givebacks.gives/788633/Campaign/Details
If you are able to volunteer, we really NEED help! Without volunteers, our event will not be able to run smoothly.
We will have jobs such as color stations, helping with registration, and helping clean up our event.

As you know, each grade level provides a snack time daily; at this time, we are out of snacks. Please ensure you are sending your child(ren) to school daily with a healthy snack for them to enjoy during this time!
Old Bowling Balls?
We are constantly looking to better our school and continue creating spaces where our students, staff and community feel happy, safe, and excited to be part of our Welch family! In planning ahead for warmer temperatures, we are looking for any donations of old bowling balls to complete a craft with. If you have an old bowling ball you are willing to donate, please drop it off at the main office any day! Thank you!

Bread Tags
Welch will be collecting plastic bread tags to donate to SCARCE for recycling in partnership with Danielle Cares for Chairs. Plastic bread tags are those square clips commonly used to seal bags around a loaf of bread, bagels, or even produce. If you are trying to reduce your plastic use, they can be hard to avoid. Further, plastic bread tags are not recyclable in your curbside recycling bin. Therefore, millions end up in landfills each year, just adding to our disposable plastic problem. it takes about 260,000 bread tags to purchase a basic wheelchair – so every bread tag counts! We will have collection bags at Welch, so please feel free to bring yours in or send them with your child!
