District 204 Community,

The Board of Education received proposals from eight search firms to assist with the superintendent search process. After conducting interviews with two of the firms, the board selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), a professional organization that specializes in school executive leadership searches.

Established in 1987, Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) is one of the nation’s oldest and largest search firms, having assisted more than 1,600 school boards in selecting exceptionally talented leadership in school systems across the country - large and small, urban and rural.

Our next step will be to finalize a timeline, which will include asking stakeholders for feedback to develop a leadership profile. The Board expects to begin the community engagement phase in August and have the new superintendent selected by mid-December, with a starting date of July 1, 2026.

Once we have more information, we will share details regarding the feedback process as we continue to update our community.
