Summer Reading, Material Return, and Summer Access to Digital Resources

Owen Families,Thank you for your support of your children, the LMC, and our school throughout this school year. I am proud of what our owls have accomplished this year! Please see below for information about recent and upcoming events:Spring Book FairThe Spring Book Fair was extremely successful! I’d like to thank you for your support as well as the many volunteers and staff members that made it a success. I am thrilled that our students will have so many great books to read and that we will be able to purchase more quality books and resources for all students to enjoy in the LMC!Summer Reading Programs & ActivitiesThis week during LMC, I have been talking to students about the many summer reading programs and opportunities and preventing the “summer slide”. I have created a presentation with information about reading programs with the Naperville and Aurora Public Libraries (All students may participate in both programs), Half Price Books, Pizza Hut, Barnes & Noble, Chuck E. Cheese, Anderson’s Bookshop, and Scholastic. Click Here for Summer Reading Program Presentation. Additionally, there is information about upcoming releases of popular children’s books, family-friendly podcasts to listen to over the summer, and a fun “82 Days of Summer Activities” sheet that encourages students to enjoy and experience all summer has to offer and keep their minds sharp as well. Students completing at least 61 out of the 82 activities will earn a special prize from Mr. Sabovik!Chromebook and Textbook ReturnOn June 1st, we will collect Chromebooks (Kindergarten and 5th grade), chargers (5th grade only), and textbooks (5th grade-5R only). 1st-4th graders will keep their Chromebooks and chargers over the summer.Thursday, June 1st- Kindergarten Chromebook Collection (devices already at school)Thursday, June 1st- 5R Textbook Collection, 5th Grade Chromebook and Charger Collection5th grade students attending summer math over the summer will keep their devices until the conclusion of the program.
