    Get to Know a Popular Author

    It’s fantastic when you find a book you love. But what happens next? Sometimes you can read other books by the same author and sometimes you need to stretch a little and find a new author. You'll find some awesome facts about our author and if you like what you see, you can check out some of his/her books! This month's author is... Kate DiCamillo

    We are excited that we will be participating in the "Battle of the Bluestems" this year at Owen!

    Each year, students in grades 3-5 read a selection of quality books and vote (if they've read 4 or more of the books) for a "students choice award" for Illinois.

    Students (grades 3-5)have the opportunity to participate in a team reading comprehension contest, where students answer reading comprehension questions on the 20 Bluestem books. We will have a competition at Owen and our winning team will have the opportunity to move on to a district competion.
