• Nancy Young Elementary School is named after a very special person. Nancy Young was a very special teacher here in our school district. In 1975, Nancy began her work for Indian Prairie as the junior high librarian at Waubonsie Valley Junior and Senior High School.  In 1981, she became learning center director at Hill Middle School when the building opened. Six years later, she opened the LMC at the new Gregory Middle School.

During her teaching years in District 204, Nancy Young became one of the true pioneers in establishing the district philosophy of Library Media Centers in each of our buildings. Thanks to Nancy herself, our Library Media Center is the center of the school, offering students and teachers an opportunity to learn.

All of us at Nancy Young feel very honored to be working and learning inside a building named after such a wonderful teacher and human being! Thank you Nancy for making a difference in our lives!

Nancy Young came to visit our school in the fall of 2009. She spent the day talking to every class and reading stories to Kindergarteners and 1st graders. Students remembered her last visit, when she came to celebrate her birthday at school in 2007. It was wonderful to see her and for her to have taken the time to visit.
