Volunteer of the Month

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Volunteer of the Month Award was not able to be presented in March.

Kristin McDonald can often be found in the LMC at Owen Elementary helping out in any way needed. Her dedication to supporting the teachers and staff is why she has been named the BMO Harris Bank District 204 Volunteer of the Month.

Kristin has three sons who are in first and fourth grade at Owen Elementary and in sixth grade at Still Middle School. When she is not working as a commercial real estate attorney, Kristin spends time volunteering in numerous capacities at Owen Elementary including Art Awareness, Box Tops, Field Day, Halloween Party, K-2 Publishing Centers, Kindergarten Orientation, Winter Party, Variety Show, World Kaleidoscope and chair of the semi-annual Children’s Resale. Additionally, she is a classroom parent and coordinates the LMC volunteers.

Her nomination states, “Mrs. McDonald is our volunteer extraordinaire! She consistently thinks of ways to provide support to the school. She is a volunteer like no other. I have been teaching for over 30 years and she takes the cake!”

Kristin volunteers because she loves working with kids and volunteering gives her an opportunity to get to know the students and staff at her sons’ school. It is also a way to show her appreciation to the teachers for the many ways they go above and beyond each day. Kristin says she knows it’s been a tough time for everyone these past few months and she’d like to thank everyone from the district, to the schools and teachers for making it as “normal” and easy an experience for the kids and parents as they can.

BMO Harris Bank is helping District 204 recognize one volunteer each month who has generously given his or her time to support District 204’s students and schools. To celebrate these outstanding volunteers, BMO Harris Bank is donating $1,000 to the volunteer’s school.
