OMG BookFest Author Visits Coming to Owen!

We are excited that district 204 has been chosen to host the Virtual OMG BookFest this year! OMG BookFest is a celebration of books aimed at the early to middle grade reader (ages 7-12) that brings together commercial and award-winning authors with local communities for an exciting experience of books, games, and activities.

OMG BookFest will take place on Friday, May 14th. Grades 2-5 will be participating this year. Students will attend 1 or more of the 5 panels (each with 4-5 authors) during the school day. The panels include:

1. Historical Fiction
2. Fantasy
3. Humor & Heart (Realistic Fiction)
4. Graphic Novels
5. Nonfiction

There are nearly 25 authors confirmed for this event including:

Vashti Harrison, Rex Ogle, John Rocco, Christina Soontornvat, Alicia D. Williams, Max Brallier, Jerry Craft, Julia DeVillers, Kat Leyh, Alan Gratz, Ann Clare LeZotte, Ellen Oh, Liesl Shurtliff, Karina Yan Glaser, Hena Khan, Gordon Korman, Celia Perez, Jasmine Warga, Alex Aster, Stuart Gibbs, Sarah Mlynowski, Ronald L. Smith, and Brian Young.

Students will be previewing the books/authors during LMC class during the next few weeks. Many of the authors' books are in our Owen Library and your public library, however all of the authors will have signed copies of their books available for purchase through the Anderson’s Book Fair Website.
