Meet the Suburban Students Helping Restore Illinois' Prairie

Reported by on 5/23/22

Throughout this year, Carl Armstrong's Botany students have been cultivating native prairie seedlings in our greenhouse to be planted in certain areas along the Waubonsie Creek Trail. In years past our AP Environmental Science students have worked with the Fox Valley Park District to assist in their planting, but this year they were able to help plant the finished work of our Botany students.

Last week, May 16th, was the first day of planting and WBEZ's Susie An came out to interview and photograph the students at work. Her article just published this morning and I wanted to share that with you all today. The text is a summary but listen to the audio as it has more student quotes.

Huge congratulations to the work that Carl and Sara continue to do with the prairie restoration!
