Resources from Parent University: Coaching Your Child Through Big Emotions
Recently, District 204 held Parent University: Coaching Your Child Through Big Emotions. Children can have big emotions they don't know how to handle. In this Parent University session, parents and guardians learned ways to coach their child through these feelings and help build their child's emotional competence. Attendees also learned how helping children identify and better understand their feelings will help lead them to finding their own solutions.
The speakers for the session were Tracy Schwartz, District 204 SEL Coach; Dawn Forkner, District 204 SEL and Wellness Coordinator; Casey Woodham, Social Worker, Neuqua Valley High School; Elizabeth Mancilla, SEL/Academic Coach, Granger Middle School; and Shelli Kelsey, SEL/Academic Coach, Fischer Middle School.
If you were unable to attend, you can watch the video on the District’s YouTube channel or view the presentation slides here.
