Big Bus, No Fuss, Drive for Us!!!

Indian Prairie D204 is asking for your assistance with our bus driver shortage and recruitment efforts. If you know anyone looking for employment or for ways to help the school district, we are in need of Bus Drivers. Also, you can earn a $100 referral bonus if a bus driver is referred by a community member receiving this email. If the Bus Driver is hired and assigned to a D204 route; you could earn a $100 referral incentive. 

We currently have route packages with no driver assigned that are being covered by mechanics, office staff, dispatchers, combining routes and double turning routes to ensure we can provide transportation service to our students each day.

Below is information on the incentives First Student offers to Indian Prairie District 204 bus drivers.

  • $24.00/hour up to $28.00/hour Starting Driver Wage, based upon experience
  • Paid weekly
  • $5000 Sign On Bonus
  • Flexible Hours, and time off during school holidays
  • Paid training leading to CDL & School bus Permit

  • 20 Hours guaranteed per week; additional hours available (drivers avg 30-40 hours per wk.)

 * Child Ride Along Program – If you have a child that is not in school and is not an infant that requires any special equipment, you can bring your child with you to work and drive with you on the bus for the routes during your workday instead of paying for day care.


  • Safely transports passengers
  • Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections
  • Assists students in the loading and unloading process

Basic Requirements:

  • Good verbal communication skills
  • At least 21 years old
  • Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years
  • Be subject to a background check, drug screen & physical
